LYNWOOD (CBS) — A shooting victim clung to life Monday after he and one other Good Samaritan tried to foil an armed robbery at a Lynwood market.

The attempted robbery occurred at a supermarket on Atlantic Avenue just before 6:00 p.m. on Sunday when the gunman entered the store and tried to rob the clerks, said Deputy Mark Pope.
That's when two men stepped in to stop the robber, with one of them stabbing the suspect in the neck with a kitchen knife.
"The suspect produced a handgun and shot the Good Samaritans, both of them," said Pope.
One of the victims suffered a non-life-threatening injury to his hand, while the other was shot in the chest.
The suspect is described as an African-American male in his mid to late 20s driving a white 1996 to 2002 Chevy Astro van with windowless rear doors and an exterior rear-view mirror.
"We're not sure at this point how significant the wound is, but he probably had to seek medical treatment from a nearby facility," said Pope.
Authorities urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
