Deputies Rescue Woman From Burning Compton Garage
COMPTON (AP) — Three Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies are being credited with rescuing a woman trapped in a burning garage in Compton.
Sheriff's officials say the deputies arrived at the burning building Saturday afternoon to find a woman trapped inside and a man trying to break through a wall with a shovel.
The deputies used the shovel to pry part of the wall away and pulled the woman out.
The woman, who was not immediately identified, suffered burns to her body. One of the deputies suffered minor burns to one of his hands.
City News Service reports that the woman, the deputy and two men who had gotten out of the garage on their own were taken to a hospital for treatment of burns.
