Erica Alonso's white 2014 Honda Civic was found in the Glenwood Park neighborhood of Aliso Viejo about 2 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Cedarbrook and Redwood.
Neighbors said the vehicle had been parked in the area for some time.
"That car had been here for a couple of weeks and there was dust getting all over it and I noticed there was a little parking violations stickers on it," Chase Hallahan, a resident, said.
As CBS2's Andrea Fujii reports, detectives were called to the area by some who complained the vehicle had been unmoved.
Hallahan said he looked through the window.
"I just kinda got that weird feeling and I looked in there and I saw a purse and like a stuffed animal and stuff like that," he said.
The 27-year-old Alonso was last seen leaving her boyfriend's Irvine home, according to her family. She was reported missing Feb. 15.
