LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Sections of the 405 Freeway will be closed at night during the next five days due to demolition work on the northern half of the Skirball Center Drive bridge.
Metro Updates On Construction And Detours
The work is part of the $1 billion effort to add a carpool lane to the northbound freeway between Interstate 10 and the 101 Freeway, along with upgrading freeway ramps and sound walls. The project is expected to take about three and a half years.
The work, which begins Tuesday night, will take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., according to Metro. The bridge will be completely closed during those hours.
To accommodate the work, the southbound 405 Freeway will be closed from Burbank Boulevard to Getty Center Drive Tuesday and Wednesday nights. The northbound freeway will be closed Thursday and Friday nights between Getty Center Drive and Ventura Boulevard. The northbound Skirball Center Drive offramp will be closed Saturday night.
