Delta Finishes $229 Million Makeover On LAX Terminal
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A $229 million upgrade of Delta's terminal at Los Angeles International Airport completed Wednesday will offer more privacy for passengers as they check-in for flights, officials said.
Delta passengers at Terminal 5 will have access to a private curbside entrance and check-in area, which includes personalized luggage checking.
"Our investments in (the terminal) now offer Angelenos a more premium airport experience, from check-in to take-off," Delta President Ed Bastian said.
Mayor Eric Garcetti said the renovation of Terminal 5 "is the latest in our now more than $8 billion overhaul of LAX" and said he is "thrilled that Delta is growing its presence here in Los Angeles."
The Sky Club was also renovated with 100 more seats; shower suites; and improved bathrooms, dining area and furniture.
Terminal 5 will also feature restaurants by celebrity chefs and name brand retail shops, officials said.
Delta recently increased flights between LAX and New York's John F. Kennedy airport, and is introducing a flight to Shanghai, China, on July 9.
