Deadly Crash Sends Car Careening Into Wall In Northridge
NORTHRIDGE (CBS) — A 25-year-old woman was killed and two other people were injured after a crash launched a car into a wall in Northridge Monday night.
The two-car collision occurred at 9:37 p.m. at 19700 Parthenia Street, near Corbin Avenue, according to Matt Spence of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Passenger Griselda Sandoval, of Northridge, was pronounced dead at the scene, Spence said. Sandoval's 18-year-old brother, Roberto, was transported to a hospital for minor injuries.
The vehicle, driven by 50-year-old Valerie Stewart, was found up against a block wall. She was also transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
An investigation determined Stewart was driving under the influence, officials said. The Van Nuys resident was arrested and booked for vehicular manslaughter. She is being held on $50,000 bail.
Anyone with information or may have witnessed the traffic collision is asked to contact Valley Traffic Division Detective Stephanie Krajchir at (818) 644-8034.
