Dashing British Actor, TV's 'Manimal', Simon MacCorkindale Dies At 58
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Dashing British actor Simon MacCorkindale, who was known to American audiences for roles on "Falcon Crest" and as TV's "Manimal", has died.
MacCorkindale was 58. He reportedly succumbed to bowel and lung cancer.
Born in Cambridge, England in 1952, the actor originally set out to ba an Air Force pilot like his father. Failing eyesight caused a career switch and by high school he caught the acting bug.
"Manimal" was a short-lived 1983 primetime series that starred MacCorkindale as a man who could change himself into animals who fought crime.
His other credits included the films "Death on the Nile" and series "Hart to Hart", "Fantasy Island," "Dukes of Hazzard," the USA series "Counterstrike" and the miniseries "The Manions of America."
MacCorkindale is survived by his wife, actress Susan George.
