DA Rejects Case Against Former 'Power Rangers' Actor Accused Of Fatally Stabbing Roommate

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The District Attorney's Office said Tuesday it will not pursue murder charges against a former "Power Rangers" actor accused of fatally stabbing his roommate.

Ricardo Medina, Jr., 36, was released Tuesday evening after he was held on suspicion of murdering Joshua Sutter, a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesperson said.

The case was rejected pending further investigation, according to the D.A.'s Office.

Authorities said Sutter and Medina got into a fight Saturday at their home in the 38000 block of San Francisquito Canyon Road in Palmdale.

Medina told detectives he then went to his bedroom with his girlfriend, but when Sutter barged in he grabbed a sword and stabbed Sutter in the stomach to protect himself.

Medina contacted 911 to report the incident and was later arrested for murder.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Medina starred in 2002 as the Red Wild Force Ranger in "Power Rangers Wild Force", and later acted as Deker in "Power Rangers Samurai."
