Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing At Beach In Dana Point
DANA POINT (CBSLA) – A small plane made an emergency landing on a beach in Dana Point Saturday afternoon, officials said.
The Orange County Fire Authority responded to the call at Doheny State Beach just after 2 p.m.
There were no injuries reported and no damage to the plane.
On Saturday evening the plane was being taken apart so it could be safely towed away.
The Orange County Fire Authority says the pilot told them he lost power and had to get it down.
The 65-year-old pilot and his nephew had been out for an hour flight and were returning to John Wayne Airport when it happened.
A troop of Boy Scouts was camping on the beach for two nights. They saw the landing happen and jumped into action.
The plane will likely be there overnight as they get it ready for transport.
