Dad Suspected In Infant Death Arrested In Mexico
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A 20-year-old Southern California man who allegedly killed his baby daughter during a fight with his wife has been arrested in Mexico City.
Los Angeles County sheriff's Deputy Aura Sierra says Jose Deras was detained Monday by Mexican authorities. She says sheriff's officials hope to have him extradited to the United States to face charges in the 10-month-old's death.
Authorities say the girl died Saturday after suffering unspecified "blunt force trauma." Deras fled following the
confrontation with his wife at their home in the South Gate area.
Sierra says the black Nissan Sentra in which Deras fled was found in Southern California, but could not provide an exact location.
