DA Declines To Press Charges Against Lohan For Alleged Brush With Pedestrian
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Los Angeles County prosecutors announced Friday that they would not file a case against actress Lindsay Lohan over an alleged brush with a pedestrian in a parking lot outside a Hollywood lounge in March.
The District Attorney's Office cited insufficient evidence against the 25-year-old star of such films as "Mean Girls" and "Freaky Friday."
"There is no direct evidence to show Lindsay Lohan or anyone else struck victim (Thaer) Kamal," according to the District Attorney's charge evaluation worksheet. "... The fact that no collision is seen on the video and a lack of any damage to any vehicle or any independent witnesses make it impossible to prove this case beyond a reasonable doubt."
Kamal is manager of the Hookah Lounge.
Lohan received a glowing review March 29 from Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner as her probation ended in connection with a 2007 DUI case in Beverly Hills.
The actress will remain on probation through May 2014 on a case stemming from the theft of a necklace from a Venice jewelry store, but the judge reduced that to unsupervised, summary probation.
