Cypress Man, 24, Accused Of Robbing, Kidnapping Female Acquaintance
CYPRESS (CBSLA.com) — A 24-year-old Cypress man is behind bars after he allegedly robbed and kidnapped a female acquaintance.
Officials said the suspect met the acquaintance at her home in Costa Mesa about 1 a.m. this morning.
The suspect and the victim then drove, in her vehicle with him behind the wheel, to a home in Cypress.
She said after leaving that residence, the suspect became upset and grabbed her arm and kept her from leaving.
The woman then alleges the man held a box cutter to her throat and stomach. She said she feared for her safety.
The alleged victim said the man drove her around several Orange County cities for several hours and also took her purse.
At about 7:30 this morning, the woman said she was able to flee as the man slowed down to go into a parking lot of a Starbucks located on Goldenwest Street in Westminster.
She ran to a nearby CHP officer from the Westminster office. Officers assisted the woman and then alerted the Westminster Police Department.
The suspect was located nearby where police said he was taken into custody without incident.
The woman's purse was also recovered. Officials said her money was also found in the suspect's pockets.
Authorities said they also recovered the box cutter.
When it was determined the alleged crime started in Cypress, the Cypress Police Department took over the investigation.
The suspect, now identified as Jeremy Roy Curtis Turner, has been booked on robbery and kidnapping charges.
Turner was also booked on a parole hold. He was first taken to the Cypress City Jail but later transferred to the Orange County Jail.
