Culver City Police Say Armed Robber Went On To Carjack Vehicle And Kidnap Driver
CULVER CITY (CBS) — Police were pursuing an armed robbery suspect Thursday when they say he carjacked a vehicle near the 10 Freeway and fled with the female driver inside.
Authorities were later able to locate the woman, who was in good condition, according to LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman.
Oscar Gomez reportedly was one of two suspects who committed an armed robbery at about 1 a.m. Thursday in Culver City, near the intersection of La Cienega Boulevard and Smiley Drive.
L.A. police officers spotted Gomez later Thursday, prompting him to flee on foot and then carjack a vehicle near the La Brea Avenue on-ramp to the westbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway, Eisenman said. He reportedly took off in the vehicle while the female driver was still inside.
That kidnapping victim was later found in good condition at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Vermont Avenue in South L.A. Thursday evening, Officer Rosario Herrera said.
Authorities were still searching the area for Gomez Thursday night.
