CSI: NY To Pay Tribute To 9/11 During Season 8 Premiere
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — From the beginning of the show, the attacks on 9/11 have been a part of CSI: NY's storyline and on the eve of the ten year anniversary, Season 8 of the hit show is taking a special look back by recreating key moments, including when the towers fell.
"Because of the significance of what this episode represents, that it actually takes place on September 11, ten years later, there's a lot of reflection going on," said Actor Gary Sinise.
Reflecting by giving back: paying tribute to first responders – an idea first pitched by Sinise, who plays Detective Mac Taylor on the hit CBS show.
"There's personal things for me involved and I've made a lot of good friends in New York City over the years that are first responders," Sinise added.
And in true CSI style, science is playing a key role in closure for the thousands of victims that had remained unidentified for years. It's a fitting tribute to all the heroes from that tragic day.
"Honoring some of the sacrifices that were made that day. Friends and family is very… you know, it's very meaningful to me," Sinise said.
CSI: NY's tribute to the World Trade Center attacks premieres Sept. 23, on CBS2 at 10 p.m.
