Crews Remove Mudslide, Flood Barriers From La Crescenta
LA CRESCENTA (CBS) — Hundreds of concrete barriers that were put in place in the foothills of La Crescenta to stem the threat of mudslides and flooding were being removed on Friday.
KNX 1070's John Brooks reports some residents had mixed reactions to seeing the unsightly "K-rail" go.

Crews from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works will remove 100 of the barriers over the next two days after years of forest growth and re-vegetation.
The barriers were installed back in 2009 after the Station Fire decimated 160,000 acres of trees and shrubs along hillsides in the area.
Resident Allan Atkins said the K-rail was not "the most attractive but it served its purpose," he said.
But neighbor Bo Potter said he's still concerned that future rainstorms would once again leave the foothills vulnerable.
"I was gonna ask those guys down the street, are they gonna come back in November and put 'em back up again or what?" said Potter.
Crews are expected to complete the job by June 15, but the K-rails are being stored at a nearby debris basin where they can be used again in the future if necessary.
