Crews Contain 50 Percent Of Sterling Fire In San Bernardino

DEL ROSA (CBSLA.com) — Fire crews are gaining ground on the Sterling Fire in the Del Rosa area of San Bernardino.

Flames ignited around 6:30 p.m. Thursday on Sterling Avenue near East Foothill Drive, east of the 215 Freeway.

Firefighters suspect the blaze may have been sparked by fireworks.

As of 6 a.m. Friday, the wildfire had scorched 100 acres and was 50 percent contained.

The fire is moving in a northeasterly direction, away from homes.

More than 100 firefighters were on scene Friday morning. They will continue to contend with the heat and windy conditions that proved challenging Thursday.
