Corvette Driver Booked On Suspicion Of DUI In Fatal Bellflower Crash

BELLFLOWER (CBS) — A man has been booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony drunken driving following a fatal collision in Bellflower.

The two-car crash, which claimed the life of a 49-year-old grandmother, occurred about 7:15 p.m. Friday on Alondra Boulevard near McNab Avenue.

Suraya Fadel, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, said authorities believe the woman, who was ejected from the SUV, may not have been wearing a seat belt.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her 20-year-old was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

The woman's 18-month-old granddaughter managed to escape without injury but was checked out subsequent to the crash.

The driver of the Corvette -- the suspected drunk driver -- sustained moderate injuries, according to authorities.

Dinh told City News Service that there was a female passenger in the Corvette. Her condition was not immediately known.
