Cortines High School Assistant Principal Accused Of Sexually Abusing Former Student

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — An assistant principal at the Ramon C. Cortines High School of Visual and Performing Arts is being investigated for sexually abusing a student.

William Webb, 51, was arrested Tuesday and charged with one count each of lewd acts with a child, oral copulation and sodomy. He was released the same day after posting $120,000 bail.

The investigation into Webb began in February 2015 after LAPD's Sexually Exploited Child Unit received a report that a former student had been abused by him while he was assigned to Vista Middle School. Detectives say the abuse began in 2006 when the student was 14 years old.

Webb has served as the assistant principal over the school's dance academy since 2009.

Anyone with information about this incident can call the LAPD's Sexually Exploited Child Unit, Juvenile Division at (213) 486-0580.
