Coroner Identifies Man Who Died After Jumping Out Of Moving Car On 170

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — The coroner's office has released the name of a man who jumped out of a moving vehicle on the Hollywood (170) Freeway.

Carlos Sanchez, 38, of North Hollywood, was struck by one car and declared dead at the scene.

The incident occurred about 4:20 p.m. Saturday.

It was reported yesterday that Sanchez was killed on the 101 Freeway.

California Highway Patrol Officer Heather Calda said Sanchez was in the right front passenger seat of a 2003 Toyota driven by Sara Burton, 37, of Los Angeles.

"For an unknown reason, Mr. Sanchez exited this vehicle while the vehicle was moving," she said.

"Mr. Sanchez collided with the roadway surface and at some point entered the Number 2 lane of SR-170 southbound directly into the path of a van driven by Reyna Ortega," Calda said. "Reyna Ortega was unable to avoid a collision and struck Mr. Sanchez."
