Coroner Identifies Hollywood Man Allegedly Stabbed To Death By Roommate
HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — The Coroner's Office Sunday identified a Hollywood man who was allegedly stabbed to death by his roommate.
The victim was identified as 34-year-old Matthew Jeffcoat, said Coroner's Lt. Cheryl MacWillie.
Jeffcoat was stabbed multiple times in the chest on Wednesday about 8:50 p.m. in front of the building where he lived with the suspect, police said.
The deceased was found in the street in the 1600 block of North Courtney Avenue, near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard, said Lt. Dan Randolph of the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Station.
Jeffcoat was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, but died soon after.
The suspect -- also in his 30s -- was apprehended a short distance from the crime scene. The arrest was made after the suspect was identified to police by a hearing-impaired man, Randolph said.
The witness' assistance "was instrumental in the identification of the suspect," Randolph said.
Police have yet to release the name of the suspect, said the LAPD's Rosario Herrera of the Media Relations Section.
