Coroner Identifies Boy, 4, Dead From Alleged Abuse

INGLEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Authorities have identified the 4-year-old Inglewood boy who died due to alleged acts of child abuse.

Police officers went to a residence in the 500 block of North Marlborough Avenue about 6:45 a.m. Thursday on a report of a "non-breathing child," the Inglewood Police Department reported.

"The response to the radio call has revealed possible child abuse," according to a police statement.

Major Woods died at a hospital.

An autopsy was pending to determine the exact cause of death, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

The child's 23-year-old mother and 28-year-old live-in boyfriend were taken into custody for questioning. Their names were not immediately released.
