Corona Welcomes Wounded Soldier Home With Parade

CORONA (CBSLA.com) — Hundreds of people lined Corona's Main Street Tuesday to welcome home Army Sgt. Jordan Sisco for the holidays.

Sisco, 22, lost both legs in an explosion in Afghanistan last July, enduring multiple surgeries with more to come.

"It made me teary eyed to see all the support," Sisco said. "It's great to see all these people."

He felt the love from his hometown, but said he didn't deserve the grassroots effort to honor him. Sisco said the soldiers who died in Afghanistan or Iraq were more deserving.

"I got a parade. Those guys didn't get anything," he said. "Those are the real heroes."

Sisco is among the critically wounded servicemen and women rehabbing at a center in San Antonio, Texas. He has been told it normally takes about two years in the program to be physically ready to take on the world.

When he's ready, Sisco says he plans to teach high school English Literature.
