Construction Worker Accused Of Kidnapping, Rape In Tustin
TUSTIN (CBSLA.com) — A construction worker with "an extensive history of prior arrests" faces charges of rape and kidnapping Thursday in Tustin.
Michael Curtis Hernandez, a 37-year-old construction worker, was arrested Tuesday in connection with a kidnapping and rape on Dec. 1.
Police say a woman reported being grabbed and forced into an apartment in the city of Tustin, where the attacker took her into a bedroom and "committed several sexual assault violations." When she was able to get away, she contacted police and reported the incident.
Detectives investigated the people associated with the residence where the crime occurred and subsequently arrested Hernandez, police said. After his arrest, Hernandez refused to speak with detectives about the crime.
According to Tustin police, Hernandez has prior convictions for kidnapping, child annoyance and false imprisonment.
Hernandez is being held on $1 million bail and is scheduled to appear in court Friday.
