Companies Bring Latest Makeup Trends To Your Doorstep
BEVERLY HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Are you a woman who just doesn't have the time to try out new beauty products?
Emily from Beverly Hills, a busy mom of two, said that was exactly her life story…until she discovered Birchbox on Goop.com.
"It's like…two kids…you're just not out buying eye shadow. But if the eye shadow comes to (me), I will try it on," she said.
For only $10 a month, Birchbox mails Emily a box of beauty samples to try and if she likes them, she can buy the full-size products.
"It feels like you're opening a Christmas stocking," she said.
The best part? The products are customized for every individual.
Emily said, "I don't feel like I'm ending up with a bunch of stuff I can't use. I'm squeezing the very last drop out of all these samples and then buying the full-size because I so enjoy having somebody pick something for me they think I would like."
Mollie Chen, Birchbox's editorial director, said all someone has to do is fill out a beauty profile online to get the process started.
"We might ask you what you're willing to splurge on…if you say skincare, then we're more likely to send you a really high-end serum. Or if you say nails, we'll send you the best nail polish," said Chen.
CBS2's Suzanne Marques said Birchbox is so popular, there's even a waiting list.
"A friend of mine just got her invitation today. She had been on the waiting list for four weeks," said Emily.
Birchbox is one of several beauty box companies that will deliver products to someone's home. Other sites include GlossyBox and Ipsy.
