Classes Resume After Sudden Death Of 8th-Grade Girl Scout Standout

SAN DIEGO (CBS) — Students at a San Diego County middle school were still in shock as they returned to classes on Monday after a student collapsed and died at a graduation celebration.

14-year-old Sabrina Keller collapsed during a graduation party at Woodland Park middle school in San Marcos last Thursday.

Keller was later pronounced dead at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego. No cause of death has been determined.

KNX 1070's Tom Reopelle reports the young Girl Scout standout will be missed by those inside and outside the classroom.

"She's a pretty little blonde blue-eyed girl, an average student but well-liked by her teachers and her peers here at school," said assistant vice principal Michelle Batiti.

School was not in session Friday, and counselors will be on hand when students and teachers return to school on Monday.

"There will be plenty of support for students, teachers and parents," said Batiti.

The eighth-grader was set to graduate from middle school next Thursday.
