Claremont Police Seeking Public's Help To Identify Rape Suspect
CLAREMONT (CBS) — Police are asking for the public's help to identify a man in a sexual assault case.
According to Claremont police, an unidentified suspect rode a bicycle up to two women walking in the 700 block of West San Jose Avenue, grabbed their buttocks and fled around 1:30 a.m. on June 18.
A short time later, as one of the two victims was leaving a nearby apartment complex, the same suspect pushed the woman to the ground and sexually assaulted her, Claremont police said.
A witness scared off the suspect who left his bicycle at the scene of the crime.
Police say similar crimes, with the suspect grabbing the victim's buttocks, have been reported in surrounding areas.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, age 17 to 25, with brown hair and brown eyes, according to police. He also has a slender build and is 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Claremont Police Department at (909) 399-5421.
