Civic Leaders Want To Bring More Raves To San Bernardino
SAN BERNARDINO (CBS) — Civic leaders in San Bernardino are hoping to bring more raves to the Inland Empire to jumpstart the local economy.
Local businesses and hotels recently benefited from a Halloween dance party that attracted 45,000 customers. Another rave in September brought 55,000 revelers to the area.
Opponents say the raves attract drug users and set a bad example for children in their family-oriented community.
However, the San Bernardino Convention Bureau hopes bringing raves and other musical events to the city will make it a music destination, as it was in the 1970s.
"The spread is amazing because it gets down to Riverside and also gets to Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga," Wayne Austin of the San Bernardino Convention and Visitors Bureau told CBS2.
