City Council Votes To Halt Sale Of E-Cigarettes To Teens
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles City Council Wednesday voted to halt sales of electronic cigarettes to minors.
The proposal, drafted by Councilman Paul Koretz, claims the use of "e-cigarettes," which allow users to inhale nicotine-laced liquid as a vapor, has doubled by teens from 2011 to 2012.

The council also approved another motion that extends existing restrictions on traditional tobacco products to e-cigarettes.
If signed by the mayor, e-cigarettes will no longer be sold from self-serve displays or from moving sources like ice cream trucks.
The regulation motion is backed by City Attorney Mike Feuer, council colleagues Mitch O'Farrell and Bernard Parks, and the director of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Dr. Jonathan Fielding.
