CHP Nabs Woman After High-Speed Chase With Child In Her Car
DOWNEY (CBSLA.com) — The CHP says they arrested a woman after she led them on a high-speed chase from Norwalk to Downey with a child in her vehicle.
The driver was originally sought for assault, officials said.
The unidentified woman was taken into custody in Downey.
Deputies with the Lakewood Sheriff's Station began following her at 4:47 p.m. northbound on the Long Beach (710) Freeway at Rosecrans Avenue in Paramont, according to CHP Officer Alex Rubio.
Deputies followed the woman in a red Ford Explorer east on the Glen Anderson (105) Freeway to the northbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, where the CHP took over and began a pursuit at 4:53 p.m. when the woman left the freeway westbound at Firestone Boulevard, Rubio said.
"Speeds were from 60 to 70 mph," he said. "She ran a few lights but there were no collisions. She took a lot of small streets and finally the
vehicle stopped by itself," near Dolan Avenue and Adoree Street in Downey.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of failing to yield, Rubio said.
A child was removed from the SUV, but the age of the child or what other charges the woman might face were not known.
