CHP Investigating Death Of Girl, 3, In Anaheim Hit-And-Run
ANAHEIM (CBS) — The California Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a 3-year-old girl who was killed in a hit-and-run accident.
Lady Audree Rebecca Hernandez, 26, was walking her daughter in a stroller in a crosswalk Wednesday at 6p.m. when they were hit by a light-colored Nissan at Gilbert Street and Guinida Lane, the CHP said.
Witnesses say they noticed a driver speeding and honking the horn, seconds later the crash occurred scattering stroller parts across the intersection.
The Nissan was later abandoned and impounded by the CHP. Authorities determined the car was stolen in Stanton on Tuesday.
Hernandez and her daughter, Miranda Palacios, were taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange in critical condition, authorities said.
The girl was pronounced dead at 7:10 p.m., according to the Orange County Coroner's Office.
Hernandez's condition was upgraded to serious and stable, according to police.
