CHP In Maximum Enforcement Mode On 4th Of July Weekend
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Keep your eyes on the road this weekend, and watch your speed.
The California Highway Patrol is in maximum enforcement mode through Monday night.
According to the CHP, 26 people were killed on California roads last year during the July 4th holiday.
More than a third of motorists killed in collisions last year in California weren't wearing seat belts.
"Our officers would rather provide education and other aid to motorists than write tickets," CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow said. "However, they will be looking for anyone who is driving impaired and posing a danger on the roadways."
Last year, 930 DUI arrests were made around the July 4th holiday.
