CHP: Driver Arrested After Running Away From Overturned Big Rig
SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA.com/AP) — Authorities have arrested the driver of a big rig who ran off after crashing off the side of Interstate 5 in Santa Clarita.
California Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos says the crash was reported at 10:21 p.m. Tuesday at McBean Parkway. Responding officers found the truck in a ditch and its cardboard load spilled across lanes.
Officers searched for the driver and found him more than an hour later. He was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
Officials are checking area hospitals for possible injuries related to the crash, but none have been reported.
The two right lanes were blocked for cleanup and reopened just after 5 a.m. Wednesday.
