Chinese Tourist Hospitalized In Anaheim Hit-And-Run; Police Hunt For Driver

ANAHEIM (CBS) — Police on Tuesday sought the public's help in finding a hit-and-run motorist responsible for critically injuring a tourist in Anaheim.

A 45-year-old Chinese national was struck by a pickup truck about 2 a.m. July 27 as he was crossing the street in the 2100 block of South Harbor Boulevard, said Anaheim police Sgt. Rick Martinez.

KNX 1070's Mike Landa reports the driver reportedly pulled into a motel parking lot, where a security camera caught an image of the vehicle.

"The driver may have gotten out of the vehicle to inspect the damage, then went back out, looked northbound on Harbor towards the direction of the pedestrian that was in the roadway," said Martinez.

Shortly after that, the driver pulled out of the parking lot, Martinez added.

The victim remains in critical condition at UCI Medical Center.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call traffic investigators at (714) 765-1860.
