Suspect Arrested For The Slaying Of 2 Men In Chinatown
CHINATOWN (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Friday announced they have made an arrest in the fatal stabbings of two men in Chinatown Thursday.
According to police, the incident was reported Thursday evening at Hop Sing Tong located in the 900 block of N. Broadway.
Upon their arrival, police located two men, both believed to be in their 60s, suffering from apparent stab wounds. Paramedics pronounced the men dead at the scene.
On Friday evening, police identified the alleged killer as 37-year old Vinh Quok Dao.
Authorities said Dao had once been a member of the private club, estranged for several years, but recently returned as a member.
A preliminary investigation revealed a trail of blood, believed to belong to the suspect, was seen leading away from where the deadly stabbings took place.
Police initially said the suspect got into an argument with the victims over gambling debt.
Friday, they said Dao confronted one of the victims and demanded $400 to pay for vehicle impound fees. When the man refused, police said Dao began stabbing him with a 6" buck-style knife. The other victim was trying to stop the attack, police said.
