Chicago Man Held For Kidnapping Alhambra Woman
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles County prosecutors say a Chicago man has been charged with the kidnapping and attempted murder of a 21-year-old woman who was left for dead after her father had agreed to pay a ransom for her return.
Prosecutors say 24-year-old DeQiang Song was charged Monday in last Thursday's attack.
Prosecutors say Song knew the woman through a mutual friend.
He allegedly tied her up, then called her father and demanded money.
While haggling over the amount, authorities say Song choked the woman and sliced her throat, then left her for dead.
Song was arrested when he went to meet the father to pick up the money.
If convicted, Song could face life in prison.
He's scheduled to be arraigned on Sept. 29.
