Cal Poly Pomona 'Explosion' Turns Out To Be Fallen Fire Extinguisher
POMONA (CBS) — A fire extinguisher that fell and self-discharged inside a three-story building at Cal Poly Pomona prompted evacuations on Friday.
The incident occurred inside a science building prompting many to believe there was a chemical spill and explosion.
After an investigation, officials determined that no explosion had occurred.
"The building was evacuated and checked after a report of a loud bang and sight of a yellowish cloud," said Uyen Mai, director of Public Affairs at Cal Poly Pomona. "It turns out it was just a fire extinguisher that fell and self-discharged."
No injuries were reported, Mai said.
