Chelsea Clinton Speaks Candidly To Youngsters At Local School While On Book Tour
BEVERLY HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Chelsea Clinton spoke candidly to a group of young students at a school in Beverly Hills on Wednesday while on her 20-city book tour.
Christian Fuhrer, the principal of Beverly Vista School on S. Elm Drive, lobbied to get the philanthropist to his school, where she addressed students in grades 4th through 8th.
She also talked about her first published book, "It's Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired & Get Going!"
Clinton's book tour is underway while her mother, Hillary Clinton, is campaigning for the White House.
"I chose to write this book, 'It's Your World' for 10 to 14 year olds because that's really the age I was when I felt like I could make a difference," she said.
She says children are often underestimated.
"I'm always struck by how curious kids are. How much more attentive and perceptive kids are to what's happening around the world and how many kids are engaged already in making a difference," she said.
Her discussion and book are already striking a chord with students who can read about how kids have made a difference and how they can help do their part.
"It doesn't matter how old you are or who you are. It just matters if you're making a difference or not," Bridgette Fussman, a student, said.
Clinton will be at Vroman's Bookstore later in the evening. The stop marked her eighth on her tour.
