Cheap In LA: Lake Shrine Meditation Gardens
PACIFIC PALISADES (CBSLA.com) — Tired and stressed with the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles? Want to find a place to reflect, gain inner peace and just relax?
Take a date or your family to the Lake Shrine Meditation Gardens in Pacific Palisades.
"Lake Shrine (began) in 1950. It was first commemorated by Paramahansa Yogananda as a site to bring peace and the teaching of meditation," said Brother Satyananda.
The beautiful spiritual sanctuary, located on a 10-acre site, has a natural lake, lush gardens and waterfalls.
Visitor Taraneh Bakhtavar said, "If it's your first date or second date, I think it's gorgeous coming here and getting to know each other…and basically enjoy the weather and enjoy the nature."
The oasis also includes a Court of Religions, which honors the five principal religions of the world. The Mahatma Gandhi World Peace Memorial is displayed there with a portion of his ashes enshrined.
