Chase Ends After Suspect Rear-Ends Truck, Slams Head-On Into Van
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The suspect in a police pursuit was arrested Thursday after he rear-ended a truck, causing it to overturn, and veered across lanes head-on into a van.
The one-minute pursuit began about 7:20 a.m. at Compton Avenue and Imperial Highway, Los Angeles Police spokeswoman Officer Sara Faden said.
The suspect struck two cars, causing a pick-up truck to overturn, before he was arrested by police, media relations Officer Norma Eisenman said.
The person in the overturned truck was a man in his 30s who was conscious and breathing, Faden said. He suffered a cut to his head.
The driver of the second vehicle had possible neck and back injuries, Faden said.
Both people were taken to area hospitals after firefighters responded to the scene at West 111th Place and South Crenshaw Boulevard, Inspector Brian Riley of the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
