Celebrities Take To Twitter To Celebrate Prop. 8, DOMA Rulings
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Celebrities took to Twitter Wednesday to revel in a historic day for California and the nation.
President Obama and a slew of Hollywood celebs tweeted in celebration of the Supreme Court's ruling that cleared the way for same-sex marriage in California.
The high court Wednesday also struck down a provision of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), a federal law that denied tax, health and retirement benefits to married gay couples.
Actors Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, who decided to delay their wedding until same-sex marriage was legalized in California, used Twitter to announce their impending nuptials.
Opponents of same-sex marriage also took to Twitter, with many of their criticisms of today's rulings taking aim at whether the Supreme Court should have had either case in the first place.
