Celebrate Greek Culture, Cuisine At Irvine's 35th Annual Taste Of Greece Festival
Opa! Come enjoy a celebration of Greek culture with festive music, authentic cuisine and live entertainment. Guests will be treated to traditional Greek hospitality at the three-day, family-friendly festival that starts June 21 through June 23.
There will be a wide variety of traditional Greek cuisine including chicken souvlaki, calamari, dolmathes, Gyros, lamb chops, loukaniko, pastitchio, and saganak. Greek pastries will include baklava, galactoboureko, kataifi, karithopita, koulourakia, thiples, and more.
Guests will also have an opportunity to bring the traditional Greek cuisine home by downloading many of the recipes off the "A Taste of Greece" website.
Throughout the event, guests will have an opportunity to learn how to make their own Greek cuisine. The cooking demonstrations will take place near the front doors of St. Paul's Church. They will happen on Saturday at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., and then on Sunday at 1:30 and 4 p.m.
There will be live music and traditional dancing happening throughout the three-day event. Traditional Greek apparel and items will be for sale at the boutique shops lining the outside of the festival. For the children, there will be a full-scale carnival that will provide endless hours of fun.
The festival will be open on Friday from 5 to 10 p.m., Saturday from noon to 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. All guests of the festival can enjoy free parking with complimentary shuttles from neighboring parking lots. Admission to the festival is $3 per person, and children under the age of 10 are free. Seniors (65 years and older) will get free admission on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Everyone attending the event will have an opportunity to enter the drawing to win a Grand Prize of $3,000, a second Prize of $1,200 or a third prize of a 60-inch television.
