CBS8 San Diego Sports Anchor, Director Shot At Home

SAN DIEGO (CBSLA.com) — CBS8 San Diego Sports Director Kyle Kraska was shot Tuesday afternoon at his Scripps Ranch home.

Anchor Marcella Lee, who is Kraska's colleague at CBS8, tweeted that he had been the victim of a shooting, shortly after 3:30 p.m.

Kraska had been shot in the leg and in the stomach while he was in his driveway, and he was taken to a local hospital for treatment. An officer who rode along with Kraska en route to the hospital described his state as alert and responsive, according to CBS8.

There were aerial views of a silver Mercedes in front of a home, said to belong to Kraska, half pulled out into the street. San Diego Police reports that a four-door van had fled from the scene.

Reports suggested that neighbors had reported hearing multiple shots.

San Diego Police identified Mike Montana, 54, as a suspect. Montana had been seen driving a white minivan that has the words "Superior Painting" on its sides.

Shortly after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, it was reported that police began surrounding a home which Montana was believed to be inside.

At 9:53 p.m., a male individual, believed to be Montana, backed out of the house with his hands in the air, and appeared to be cooperating with police.

Kraska was, in the early 1990s, a morning anchor at KCBS Los Angeles.
