LOS ANGELES (CBS) — CBS2 and KCAL9 kicked off their association with the California Highway Patrol's annual CHIPS for Kids toy drive on Wednesday, December 8.
The stations originated live broadcasts during all of their local newscasts from 4:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. in front of their Studio City Broadcast Center home at the CBS Studio Center and four other toy drop-off locations across Southern California.
The stations' news anchors and weathercasters welcomed a number of guests from the CBS family, including the hosts of THE TALK (Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini), LET'S MAKE A DEAL host Wayne Brady, Chris Jacobs, co-host of CBS Television Distribution's THE INSIDER, CBS RADIO's K-EARTH 101 Morning Show team of Gary Bryan and Lisa Stanley (who broadcast their show live from the Broadcast Center) and KFWB News Talk 980's morning news anchors Penny Griego and Phil Hulett.
More than 2,000 new, unwrapped toys were collected during Media Day.
Toys will continue to be collected through Christmas Eve and given out by CHP to disadvantaged and hospitalized children across Southern California.
