CBS Scores Big Time On Thursday Night Football, Draws Over 20 Million Viewers

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com/AP) -- The CBS debut broadcast of "Thursday Night Football" was seen by more than 20 million viewers, the network said.

CBS earlier said its broadcast with the NFL Network of the Steelers and Ravens had an overnight household rating of 13.7, which more than doubled the first non-opener Thursday night game last season. Last year, Thursday night games were only shown on the NFL Network.

The viewership numbers that CBS estimated as 20.9 million viewers was up from 11.0 million in the comparable game, which was Jets-Patriots on Sept. 12, 2013.

Previous Thursday night games had been confined to the NFL Network, but will be shown on both this season.

CBS2 will continue NFL action Sunday with a doubleheader. Starting at 10AM local time, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots will travel to Minnesota to face Adrian Peterson and the Vikings for the morning game on CBS2.

The second game of the doubleheader on CBS2 will have an AFC West match-up between Kansas City Chiefs against Peyton Manning's Broncos.
