Caught On Tape: Bumbling, Fumbling Robber Misplaces Gun
MISSION VIEJO (CBS) — Convenience store....check! Hood...check! Gun? Now where did I put the gun!?!
Orange County sheriff's deputies Tuesday were looking for a disorganized robber who eventually managed to pull a gun on a 7-Eleven clerk...after six long minutes!
The suspect walked into the store at 23012 Los Alisos Blvd. in Mission Viejo about 1:30 p.m. on Valentine's Day, grabbed a bottle of water and put it on the counter, Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said.
Michele Gile, reporting for CBS2, said police theorize the robber forgot where he put his gun. Eventually, she says, he remembered it was in his pocket.
He then pointed the gun at the clerk and demanded cash, Amormino said. As the clerk gave him the money, the suspect asked for a couple of cartons of cigarettes, Amormino added.
"This whole thing took about six minutes," Amormino said, adding, most robbers want to get in and get out...in a hurry.
The suspect is white, about 5 feet 7 inches and 150 pounds, Amormino said.
