Caught On Tape: Armed Robbery At South LA Burger Restaurant
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — LAPD detectives released have released surveillance video of a robbery at a South LA restaurant in hopes that the public can help identify the robber.
The robbery happened Monday at 10:08 p.m. when a man entered Hercules Hamburger, at 6225 S. Broadway. The robber walked in past some customers who were leaving, and went directly behind the cashier counter, LAPD Detective Medina said.
The robber pulled out a semi-automatic chrome or stainless steel gun, brandishing it at the cashier and demanding money. The cashier can be seen in the video opening the cash register and stepping away with his hands up.
The restaurant was still open for business, Medina said, and while the video shows the two employees, it doesn't show the customer sitting at the other end of the restaurant. Police would also like to speak to the customers who were leaving the restaurant just before the robbery, Medina said.
About $450 was taken from the register, Medina said.
The suspect is described as a 25 to 27-year-old black man, about 5 feet 10, weighing about 170 pounds. He wore a black beanie, black pants and a black hooded sweatshirt.
