Man Arrested After Nanny Cam Records Burglary At OC Home

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A 49-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the burglary of a home in Orange County.

According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, Joseph Cook was arrested for vehicle burglary, resisting arrest and a parole warrant.

Cook is also being charged with the residential burglary, officers added.

On Aug. 3, authorities were sent to a home located in the 19000 block of Worchester Drive for report of a residential burglary that had just occurred.

Upon their arrival, police learned Cook had entered the home through a possible unlocked back door.

Surveillance video captured him entering a child's room, where proceeded to steal a piggy bank.

The homeowner said Cook also stole jewelry, electronics, makeup and bags from the home.

On Tuesday, authorities were sent to the Hotel Lobby located in the 7200 block of Edinger Avenue for report of a theft in progress.

A responding officer recognized a man who resembled the suspect description provided of Cook. He was located by a dumpster near the Goodyear Tire Center.

Cook fled on foot as the officer attempted to contact him, however, he was detained a short distance later.

He is being held at the Huntington Beach Police Department.
