Carson Man Charged In Murder Of Estranged Wife's Boyfriend In Front Of 2 Children
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A Carson man was charged Wednesday in the fatal stabbing of his estranged wife's boyfriend, which took place in front of her two young children.
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Guillermo Hector Diaz, 29, faces one count each of murder, attempted murder, first-degree residential burglary and forcible rape.
Diaz also faces two counts each of resisting executive officer and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime.
The case includes allegations of great bodily injury under the circumstances which involved domestic violence, and use of a knife, as a deadly and dangerous weapon, the district attorney explained.
According to police, Diaz is accused of entering his estranged wife's apartment through a window on Dec. 22.
Prosecutors explained Diaz stabbed her boyfriend several times with a pocketknife in front of her 6-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy.
His estrange wife attempted to stop Diaz, however, he allegedly tried to break her neck in response.
Officers said he also prevented both his estranged wife and her daughter from calling police during the attack.
Prosecutors added Diaz is accused of raping his estranged wife during an argument, which took place about two months prior to the fatal attack.
If convicted, Diaz faces a possible maximum sentence of life in state prison.
Prosecutors requested his bail be set at more than $2 million.
