Mother, Son Killed In Drive-By Shooting In Carson
CARSON (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Sunday investigated the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a mother and son in Carson.
The shooting unfolded just before midnight on Saturday in the 19500 block of South Tillman Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Upon their arrival, detectives learned an adult man and two adult women were seated inside a vehicle parked in front of the location. A suspect opened fire on the vehicle as they drove up to the garage of their home.
"A dark colored sedan driving north on Tillman Avenue approached and fired numerous shots at the victim's vehicle," said Deputy Mike Barraza. "The suspect then fled north on Tillman Avenue and out of view."
The man and woman sustained gunshot wounds to their upper torsos. Paramedics pronounced both victims dead at the scene.
CBS2's Joy Benedict identified the victims as 28-year-old Jordan Love and his mother, Michele Kelly.
Benedict interviewed the man's father. Kelly was his ex-wife.
Joe Love told Benedict that his son died in his arms. The shooting took place outside his home.
A third passenger did not sustain injuries during the shooting.
At this time, no suspect description has been made available.
Detectives believe the shooting was an isolated incident.
The investigation is ongoing as the motive for the shooting remains unclear.
