Carjacking Suspect Chased, Apprehended In Van Nuys
VAN NUYS (CBS) — A parolee at large was taken into custody after a two- minute chase in Van Nuys Wednesday related to a carjacking, authorities said.
The chase began about 4:30 p.m. at Allott Avenue and Collins Street and ended near Hatteras Street and Ventura Boulevard, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Karen Rayner.
The officer apparently recognized the suspect as a parolee at large but did not know that a carjacking had occurred, Rayner said.
KCAL9 reported that the person from whom the car was taken was still in the car.
The suspect drove the car up a curb and then ran, running across backyards, according to a witness interviewed by KCAL.
The suspect was found about 90 minutes later, hiding in a garage, the station reported. He was bloodied during the attempt to take him into custody.
